Yang Ikumi

Born in Tokyo in 1993, Ikumi Yang spent her childhood in eight different countries until the age of ten. Active across installation, performance, moving image, and text, she creates spatial works that incorporate the movement and perception of viewers. Drawing inspiration from pictorial perspective, Yang constructs sites where multiple viewpoints, distances, and temporalities intersect, reconfiguring the relationships between seeing, being present, and being recorded. Her practice turns the processes of transition that emerge between event and record, the everyday and ritual, and the individual body and the collective field into spatial experiences.Last Updated: 2026.06
