CCBT presents the first solo exhibition in Japan by the Seoul-based artist duo Loopntale.
Based on Loopntale’s signature game installation Feed, the exhibition explores encounters with the various entities that shape our world, from humans to animals, plants, the environment, and even signs of unknown presences.
Through video games, interactive installations, workshops, and more, Loopntale has pursued critical inquiries into relationships with marginalized figures in urban and social contexts, as well as with the various kinds of others and environments that often go unnoticed. This exhibition is the result of dialogue and on-site creative work undertaken during two residencies in Tokyo in May and July 2026. Its starting point is the practice and spirit of the Korean word araboda, a linguistically particular verb compound, and seeks to explore relationships and interactions that emerge between us and a world of complex entanglements of human, nonhuman, and technology.
At the heart of the exhibition is Feed, a game installation created by Loopntale based on the encounters and relationships cultivated over the course of three years of visits to Tancheon, a stream in Seoul with restricted access due to redevelopment. The exhibition expands upon the world that Feed limns, layering it with a universe inhabited by unknown entities that respond to human emotions.
The exhibition title is a compound of the Korean verbs “see” and “know.” Encompassing as it does multiplex meanings like realizing, recognizing, distinguishing, and investigating, and yet used in Korean on an everyday basis, araboda is hard to translate in a single word. It carries the nuance of something already present, though only becoming recognized and emerging as an entity through interaction, and as such, demands a physical and active approach.
Confronting the unknown or what we previously made no effort to know. Updating our own perspectives and behaviors through that engagement. By intervening like that in the world (or device) envisaged by Loopntale, visitors explore new possibilities for how we can respond to the world and live side by side with different entities.
