Tabei Katsuhiko

After graduating from university, Katsuhiko Tabei worked as a mold designer for a plastic parts manufacturer. In 2007, he completed postgraduate studies at the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS), where he began creating media art works. He subsequently served as systems manager at IAMAS, technical staff member at the Ultra Factory of Kyoto University of the Arts, research assistant at the Art Media Center (AMC) of Tokyo University of the Arts, and technical director at Super Factory. During this time, he supported the production of artworks using digital fabrication, woodworking, and metalworking technologies, while also working extensively as an exhibition installer specializing in media technology and audiovisual installations. In 2022, he joined the launch of Civic Creative Base Tokyo (CCBT) as technical director. In 2025, he founded MeAM Inc., a company specializing in the conservation, restoration, and maintenance of media art. Through technical surveys, restoration, maintenance, and exhibition installation, he is engaged in the long-term preservation and stewardship of media art works.Last Updated: 2026.08
