Drawing on his involvement with various projects and advanced programming technology like real-time 3D graphics and computer vision, Higa Satoru works prolifically in installations, stage directing, VJing, live performance, and virtual reality. From 2012 to 2015, he was a member of Rhizomatiks, directing Perfume’s live performance at the 64th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen end-of-year television special, and contributing to Sakamoto Ryuichi and Manabe Daito’s Sensing Streams (Sapporo International Art Festival 2014). In 2015, Higa founded backspacetokyo. His output includes directing millennium parade’s live music performances using 3D stereoscopic and XR technology as well as creating and doing research and development for installations.
