Civic Creative Base Tokyo’s Future Ideations Camp is a series of intensive workshops bringing different kinds of people together to work collaboratively and creatively with art and digital technologies. Under the theme “Making New Rules with Blockchains,” the second iteration of the camp will reconceptualize money, NFTs, and DAOs through practical applications of blockchain technologies.
As a preview event for the second iteration of the Future Ideations Camp, on-chain generative art platform Art Blocks founder Erick Calderon will give a keynote lecture via Zoom.
Attracted to the similar interrelations between smart contracts and token minting and algorithms and generative art, Calderon came up with metadata that shows generative art data on a blockchain and a system for directly uploading scripts written by artists. Though the NFT scene’s potential to form new communities through many people owning versions of an artwork is already known, on-chain art transactions on Art Blocks make it possible for users (buyers) to actually take part in creating new art as collaborators through smart contracts, triggering a movement set to significantly alter the global art scene.
In his lecture, Calderon will discuss the individual forms of expression that on-chain art enables, as his own career has demonstrated, and also explore the Art Blocks vision of what’s coming next, the potential for expanding expression through blockchains, and future society and applications of blockchain technologies.
