In conjunction with the Loopntale exhibition Araboda: Noticing, Seeing and Engaging to Know, Discerning the Essence, Staying Mindful, this collaborative workshop explores signs and indicators of emotion via the intersection of everyday images and fragments of memory.
If our emotions left traces behind not only internally but also in the places we inhabit, how might we perceive and articulate them? Loopntale’s exhibition limns a fictional world where our feelings are imprinted onto a location, and where unknown entities appear and are observable in the surroundings.
The workshop “Play of Presence” is inspired by this worldview and serves as a guide to things as yet unnoticed. Following the game rules, participants transform words drawn from deep-seated memories and a single photograph unearthed from the many on their camera roll into narrative fragments. Exchanging, mixing, and reconnecting these fragments, they generate entirely new stories. These fragments blend, creating unexpected flows, and which the choices and interpretations of others imbue with fresh meaning.
What kind of scenes emerge when the image of a familiar place encounters words born from someone else’s memories? In this workshop, discover “presences” previously unnoticed and imagine new relationships through the process of fragmentary personal stories transforming into a shared narrative.
