Born in Niigata in 1999, Suzuki Daisuke completed his studies at the Harada Masahiro Laboratory in the School of Architecture, Shibaura Institute of Technology. He currently works at Kiyoaki Takeda Architects. His graduation project, “Urban Dam Architecture,” received the 2023 Good Design New Hope Award. Suzuki’s project presented a new urban vision aimed at addressing flood control and promoting the harmonious coexistence between humans and rain by incorporating water-retention features into individual buildings as an alternative to large-scale dams that are disconnected from everyday life. With a curiosity for the everyday landscapes and phenomena that permeate our world, Suzuki’s work moves between city and nature, micro and macro, the rational and the irrational. Through observation and analysis of overlooked elements, such as outdoor AC units, street gardening, abandoned railway lines, former quarries, and underground reservoirs, Suzuki reconsiders existing meanings and rules to imagine new possibilities for urban freedom and self-reliant living.Last Updated: 2025.08
