Shimura Shota

Shimura Shota was born in Kawasaki, Kanagawa, to a family that runs a dry cleaning and laundry business. After traveling the world and managing an IT company, Shimura completed his PhD at the Institute of Advanced Media Arts and Sciences (IAMAS). His recent work centers on the themes of narrative and mobility as they relate to place, with projects such as the “Mobile Literature” series, in which he projects stories onto city streets using a small bicycle-mounted projector, and “MIKOSHI RIDER,” a traveling performance featuring a bicycle equipped with a portable shrine. Recent exhibitions include the solo show Here’s A Bicycle (Lusaka, 2025) and the group show Roppongi Art Night (Tokyo, 2023).Last Updated: 2025.08
