Momoka Nakayama

Nakayama graduated from the Department of Control and Systems Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. While studying in the Emerging Design and Informatics Course at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies, the University of Tokyo, she researched the kinds of movement that lead people to perceive something as a living being. Her practice centers on robotics-based interactive art, which she has created and presented in a variety of contexts. Her major works include iki-mono (Finalists’ Awards, Asia Digital Art Award [ADAA], 2016), +move (SXSW 2017, USA), Nikeé in water (2019, “POTENTIALITIES: Exhibition for A Possible Future in Komaba: Zowa-Zowa,” an exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo, Tokyo), and SEE MEDICINE (2021, “Art for Medical Vol. 1: See Your Breath,” Showa University School of Medicine (present Showa Medical University School of Medicine), Tokyo).Last Updated: 2026.08
