Formed in 2013, Tokyo Shiokouji is a contemporary pop band whose precise but abstract sound is characterized by minimal music with subtle techno and hip-hop influences. In 2016, the band was selected for Disc Union’s DIM. Audition artist discovery project and released its debut album, FACTORY, the following year. The album caught the attention of Steve Reich, who praised Tokyo Shiokouji as a “great live band.” In 2018, the band performed at Fuji Rock Festival. Following the 2023 release of its third album, Goodbye, Tokyo Shiokouji embarked on a five-city tour across Japan. Goodbye was nominated for the Best Asian Creative Artist award at the 14th Golden Indie Music Awards.Last Updated: 2026.11
