Iida Yutaka

Born in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, in 1979, Iida Yutaka graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and computer science from the University of Tokyo. He completed a doctoral course in interdisciplinary information studies at the University of Tokyo without obtaining a PhD. His research specializes in media studies, media technology history, and the sociology of culture. Iida’s writings include When TV Was an Attraction: An Archaeology of Early Television (Seikyusha, 2016) and Media Studies Strata: From Expo ’70 to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (Keiso Shobo, 2020). His co-writings include Media Studies, New Edition (Open University of Japan Education Promotion Council, 2022), Video Media Studies (Seikyusha, 2022), and World Expos and Japan: Art and Media (Keiso Shobo, 2024). He currently serves as a member of the Broadcasting Ethics & Program Improvement Organization’s Youth Committee.Last Updated: 2024.08
