Ihara Sayuri

After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts with a degree in musicology, Ihara Sayuri completed master’s and doctoral degrees in music education at the same institution. In her work, she seeks out more interesting ways for children to encounter sounds and musical instruments. Her major publications include Why We Have Music (edited by Imagawa Kyoko, Ongaku no Tomo, 2020) and In Search of Encounters with Sound / (2021, Mirai). Ihara is also a certified nursery teacher and junior high and high school music teacher. She is currently a full-time lecturer at Kyoei University and adjunct lecturer at University of the Sacred Heart, teaching childcare workers and educators. Last Updated: 2023.10
