Established in 2019, ALTEMY creates work not limited by conventions of form, including architecture, public squares, street experiments, landscapes, installation art, and fashion. Founder Tsugawa Eri worked at Diller Scofidio + Renfro in New York on an Agency for Cultural Affairs fellowship. She returned to Japan to claim top prize at the Sannomiya Station Plaza Contest run by the city of Kobe in 2019, and then established ALTEMY. Its past projects include the Spectra-Pass lobby at the Pola Museum of Art (2021), Sankita Square in front of Hankyu Kobe-sannomiya Station (2021), the exhibition Incomplete Niwa Archives (2021) at Yamaguchi Center for Arts and Media, and Machi-no-Hoikuen Community School Minami-Aoyama (2024).
