Make a Flower Phenakistiscope (with sign language interpretation)
Friday, May 3 10:30am–12:00am
- Workshops
Create an animation with just a single piece of paper! A phenakistiscope (or phenakistoscope) was the world’s first widespread animation device, invented in the nineteenth century. Use the Flower Phenakistiscope (a more accessible version of the device by Iwai Toshio) and experience the fun of seeing a picture you draw come to life. The event ends with a screening of everyone’s works with sound added. What kind of animation will you make?!
Lecturer: Iwai Toshio (media artist, children’s book author)
