Skinsphere re-examines the question of what the self is by reconstructing the meaning of wearing a holistic membrane\/interface that encompasses the body, language, and environment. It takes a dual approach to the shifting bedrock of identity, rethinking the various labels that define us as a linguistic environment, and rediscovering the corporeal environment as a symbiote on the planet through the microbiome inhabiting the body. Through dialogue and collaboration with various subjects, and alternating exchange of research and practice, the project aims to engender new perspectives on the relationship between society and the individual.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Based on their interest in new theories of time that emerge from queer perspectives, Komiya Lisa Marina explores new methods of reproduction\/breeding through various mediums, from installation to biotechnology, performance, moving image, manga, and more. Their collective endeavors include Reproductive Garden Project, which draws institutional parallels between legal restrictions on same-sex marriage and issues related to building codes, and makes gardens on land where rebuilding is prohibited, and FAQ?, a queer feminist art platform for the ongoing questioning of sexuality and gender. Their publications include On Their Frontlines (two vol., 2024 and 2025, Leed Publishing).<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Art Incubation Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of CCBT\u2019s core programs, the Art Incubation Program provides opportunities for creative talent to undertake new projects and makes those processes accessible to the public, facilitating forms of artistic expression, exploration, and action that change our city for the better. Selected through an open call, five artist fellows will act as CCBT partners, developing their projects, making the creative process public, exhibiting the results, and holding workshops and talks.
